Advanced Wireless Services (AWS)
Micronet provides services for those microwave carriers moving out of the 2110-2155 MHz band to the higher frequency public shared bands.
Micronet also offers planning and frequency coordination services for those carriers setting up base stations in the 2110-2155 MHz band.
Area coverage analysis and backhaul planning is also available for the incoming wireless base stations.
AWS Restrictions in 1710-1755 MHz
- One (1) Watt peak EIRP for AWS mobile stations, lower than the two (2) watts allowed for PCS.
- Base Stations Not Allowed in This Band
- Protect Government Fixed Microwave in 1710-1755 MHz until relocation
- Avoid interference to Meteorological Receivers from low elevation angle transmissions
- Avoid Co-channel Interference to facilities in the 1755 – 1842 MHz and 2025 – 2110 MHz bands
- Avoid Cross-Border Interference
AWS Restrictions in 2110-2155 MHz
- Base Station EIRP limit is 1640 watts, the same as PCS under Part 24
- Base Stations must be located so as to prevent associated mobiles in the (1710 – 1755) MHz band from interfering with 16 DoD facilities
- Fixed Microwave will continue to operate in this band, and must be protected
- Existing Multipoint Distribution Systems (MDS) must be protected until they migrate to another frequency band
AWS Impact on Mobile Satellite Systems (MSS)
- Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) is allocated to the 2180-2200 MHz band
- FS links in this band are paired with FS Links in the 2130-2150 MHz band, which has been reallocated to AWS
- AWS operators may have cost-sharing obligations to incumbent MSS operators
